Whose decisions should you trust?

The simple and correct answer is-Your own!

Point #14 of the code of honor is:
Be your own adviser, keep your own counsel and select your own decisions.

Some things may play a part in it like information, knowledge (or lack of), others advice, etc... but in the end the decisions you make are the ones you'll have to live with.

You make a wrong decision. So what! If it doesn't cost you physical harm or your life and/or affect others the same way, more times than not you will have an opportunity to correct it. Sometimes, it better to make a wrong decision than no decision at all.

And when you make a correct decision, take all the credit in the world for it.

This does not mean never listen to anyone or take their advice. Just make sure you decide in for yourself if it's good or not for you and other around you.
