Recommended Sites For Educational Tools

For most this is the last weekend before school starts up. All of the books mentioned are available at our Church including the courses that go with them.

For those who make have a problem in doing a course here, there are a couple of sites you can visit:

Applied Scholastics International is the top place to train teachers to become better Educators. They also have all the books mentioned earlier, have course materials for teachers. and a home study course you can do.

Heron Books is a great place to get lesson plans, course materials and other study stuff on specific subjects.

E Learn Aid is an on-line store that has an array of study books, dictionaries and encyclopedias for every student and teacher in several languages.

Instead of using drugs to get your child (or yourself) through the year, use some of the tools mentioned over the past month. You'll be glad you did!

This book provides students with the means to get the most out of their education. Students learn everything from finding words quickly to understanding the symbols in dictionaries. It opens doors for those who would otherwise be unable to understand even the simplest of terms.
This book is available in itself and to do as a course. Contact us for more information.

Child's Play for Adults

It's a shame that this book has the title it does, Grammar and Communication for Children because it's one of the best book on basic grammar. The majority of the people taking this course at our mission are and have been ADULTS!

This book utilizes simple text and clear explanations to provide students with the basics of grammar, and spoken and written communication. Its clarity is key in preventing students from developing an all too common distaste for the subject. It helps students clarify grammar with the purpose of improving the ability to communicate.
So don't let the name fool you. It's a powerful book and course for any person at any age.

The Divine Right to Communicate

There is Freedom of Speech in our Constitution in the US. Just because you have the right to communicate doesn't mean you have to.

Do Not Give or Receive Communication Unless You Youself Desire It is the next point in the Code of Honor. Some people feel any comments they have about something (namely this site) has the right to be heard and published here. There was a great blog a couple of months back in Grahame's Scientology Blog site that tackled this. Read it for yourself and come to your own decision.

You have the right to give and receive communication as you wish.

As with the other books talked about, you can take the Basic Study Manual Course at our location. It's information you want to have under your belt to be able to apply and you can complete it before the school year starts in most cases. Contact Cheri Rodriguez to start

True Friends To The End

Other people can sway how you feel about someone, even from one friend towards another. You could have an influential person in your life saying you should hang out or talk to so and so anymore for whatever reason. And this other person has been a friend. How do you handle this?

If that other person is a true friend, try code #7 of the Code of Honor:
Never Permit Your Affinity to be Alloyed.

A definition of Affinity, taken from the book: Scientology: A New Slant on Life is "A degree of liking" and a definition of Alloyed would be to weaken or reduce the value of. People will try to have you not associate with people if they feel it would not serve their own ends. You really have to look out for this if you become a person of power and influence. Others can discourage your from being with good friends you grew up with, etc...

In short, YOU decide whether you want to be friend with a person or not. Don't allow others to decide that for you. And if you have a true friend, be a friend to the end !

To be Popular

Learning how to study is just one of the pressures students have to face when in school. Another is drugs and the peer pressure to just "try it" by other students. Here is a video that show the disastrous results in the attempt to become "Popular" .

Learn how to Study!

It was mentioned that we would tell you about some great books and courses you child can participate in to get ready for the up-coming school year. The first one is a beginning book that introduces your child on how to study.

The book is called: Learning How to Learn

This extensively illustrated book communicates in an easy to understand manner. Study methods are communicated that will help your child to really understand what he reads. Also communicated is what to do when he or she is having trouble with a subject. Three barriers to study are covered. How to detect the barriers and how to really handle them. This information will help your children to get better grades and more importantly it will help them to understand and apply what they study so they can do well in life.

You can purchase this book in our bookstore and we deliver a course at our mission where you child will get hands-on supervision so they will be able to apply what they learn. Contact us to get started.

What is True for You

We all have our own reality on things whether it's beliefs in religion, the existence in the Easter Bunny or whatever.

Never compromise with your own reality is point #6 in the Code of Honor. The toughest thing is keeping your reality despite others trying to change it. Always remember that what is true is what's true for you ! And until you find out for yourself otherwise, you should stay to what you believe.
