Wrapping up February with the Way to Happiness

We have an extra day in February to show the Way to Happiness PSA's. It will be shown this evening at 7:30 PM at the Mission of Seattle.

These public service announcements are more than "something to see". They are a glimspe to the solutions of things that plague us. We depend on government or the police to handle our problems for us and they can to a degree. A more reasonable solution is not building more jails or make more laws but to have people realize for themselves that living a moral life, based on common sense only, will be more beneficial to the society. That's where the PSA's and the book itself come into play.

This book is non-religious, very common sense and practical. It is designed so that any person or group who feel they are strong enough to agree to most or all of the precepts in the book could have the cover printed with their picture or organization's logo on it. That includes businesses, other churches, etc...

Getting this book and PSA's out in mass is a way you can do something.

Axioms of Life

We went over the "Beginning" Basics books. Now we will venture into the more advanced books. These are still basic books on Dianetics and Scientology. Enjoy !
Advanced Procedure and Axioms
With new breakthroughs on the nature and anatomy of engrams — “Engrams are effective only when the individual himself determines that they will be effective” — came the discovery of the being’s use of a Service Facsimile: a mechanism employed to explain away failures in life, but which then locks a person into detrimental patterns of behavior and further failure. In consequence came a new type of processing addressing Thought, Emotion and Effort detailed in the “Fifteen Acts” of Advanced Procedure and oriented to the rehabilitation of the preclear’s Self-determinism. Hence, this book also contains the all-encompassing, no-excuses-allowed explanation of Full Responsibility, the key to unlocking it all. Moreover, here is the codification of Definitions, Logics, and Axioms, providing both the summation of the entire subject and direction for all future research. See Handbook for Preclears, written as a companion self-processing manual to Advanced Procedure and Axioms.

Thought, Emotion and Effort
With the codification of the Axioms came the means to address key points on a case that could unravel all aberration. Basic Postulates, Prime Thought, Cause and Effect and their effect on everything from memory and responsibility to an individual’s own role in empowering engrams — these matters are only addressed in this series. Here, too, is the most complete description of the Service Facsimile found anywhere — and why its resolution removes an individual’s self-imposed disabilities.

TWTH Precept #5 Honor And Help Your Parents

Conflicts between children and parents seems to be a necessary part of existance. Well, it doesn't have to be that way. Just as parents should love and help their children (see precept #4), the same goes in children honoring their parents.

The definition of honor we're using here is: to show respect for; to treat with deference (polite respect) and courtesy. That could mean things like trying to talk to each other when and difficulty arises, being honest with your parents being on good terms with your parents or those who brought you up.

Scientology's place as a Religion

Last month, one of our blogs was on why Scientology was called a religion. Here is a great reference work on Scientology as studied by some religious scholars. It's on our links list as the Bonafides of Scientology but the complete title of the work is called: Scientology: Theology and Practice of a Contemporary Religion.

Read it and find out for yourselves the religious history of Scientology.

Friday TWTH PSA

Tonight at 7:30 PM, we will be showing the Way to Happiness PSA's. The Human Rights PSA will be shown next on Tuesday.

Speaking of Human Right and happiness, we would like to thank Tim for his comment. He asked why would we be concerned about children but be in an org that harms and abuses its own? I haven't seen that. So Tim and others who believe that way are invited to stop in the mission or any of our Churches and find out for themselves.

Scientology as a mental Therapy

Is Scientology like hypnotism, meditation, psychotherapy or other mental therapies?

There is no resemblance. In fact, it was as a result of L. Ron Hubbard’s investigation of hypnotism and many other mental practices that he saw the need for practical answers to man’s problems. In his book, Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, he wrote that he had found hypnotism and psychotherapy to be dangerous and impractical. Nearly all other methods of alleged mental science are based on principles that are quite the opposite of those used in Scientology. They treat man as a “thing” to be conditioned, not as a spiritual being who can find answers to life’s problems and who can improve enormously.

More on the Emotions Seminar

Here is a revealing quote on page 321 of the book: Science Of Survival. Terms in parenthesis were added to define tone levels.

"At 1.1 (Covert Hostility) we get only an occasional conscious awareness that the individual is himself tending toward his own suicide. Death is intended by devious means for a lesser periphery. Where the 1.5 (Anger) will seek the death of many, the 1.1 will seek by covert means the death of a few.

The 0.5 (Apathy), then, is the suicide; but before suicide, can almost be counted upon to attempt the death of at least his closes associate, whether by murder or by enturbulation via sympathy"

This is not done to scare you, but to inform you how important to know about emotions and able to predict how they will react. You are invited to attend the Emotions Seminar this Saturday at the Seattle Mission. Sterts at 10 AM and the cost is $20.

TWTH Precept #4: Love and Help Children

Precept #4 out of the book: The Way to Happiness. Other practices mention about children honoring their parents but it gets forgotten that it's as important the other way.

Children have their their own lives, do the strangest things and at times feel they can't talk to their parents about things. By being loving and helping, that will go a long way into developing them to where they can honor you.

Emotions Seminar on Saturday, Feb 23rd

Unfortunately, there was another mass shooting this past week. One of comments you hear in the papers are the shooter had "2 sides to him". Do you ever wonder who to trust and who not to? And better yet, how to predict the actions of anyone you associate with? There is a tool you can use.
It's called the Emotional Tone Scale and it is the subject of our special Emotions Seminar that will be held on Saturday, Feb 23rd at the Seattle Mission. The Seminar starts at 10 AM and the cost is $20 which includes lunch and materials. Call us at (206) 365-1884 to reserve your seat.

On Marriage and Family

How does Scientology view marriage and the family?

Scientology regards the family as the building block of any society and marriage as an essential component of a stable family life.
People often find that after they begin practicing Scientology, their relationships with their spouses and other family members strengthen dramatically. That is because Scientology teaches an individual to communicate more freely with others, raises his capacity to love other people and puts him in better communication with family and friends.
Surveys have found that after participating in Scientology services, individuals are more likely to marry or stay married and to have children than before they became Scientologists

Getting into Scientology

How do people get into Scientology?

Usually by word of mouth, often by reading a book or seeing promotional materials or visiting a church of Scientology. Sometimes a person becomes interested by meeting a Scientologist and seeing that he has “something” — a positive attitude toward life, certainty, self-confidence and happiness — which they too would like to have. Fundamentally, people get into Scientology because they want to improve something in their lives or because they want to help others improve themselves and thus create a better civilization

More on The Basics

" We're dealing in Essence with Certainty. Therefore, we deal with a simple definition. Certainty is itself Knowledge. Knowledge is Certainty." - L. Ron Hubbard
The best way to study Dianetics and Scientology is in a chronological sequence and in that way, you can see how the developements and discoveries build upon each other. These Basic books ARE the fundementals of Dianetics and Scientology. They may be labeled as "Beginning" or "Advanced" but all are part of The Basics.
In past blogs, the beginning books were talked about in order. In the future, the advanced books and lectures will be taken up. All are well worth knowing and having. In 2007, the completion of intense research and coordination to make sure no stone was left unturned and all the writings of L. Ron Hubbard on these basic books and lectures were done. You would be amazed of what it took.
This Saturday (Feb 16th) @ 1 PM, you can find out for yourself on what it took. The Basics Video will be shown at the Mission of Seattle. Check it out.

What does Scientology Accomplish?

A reminder: Tuesday at 7:30 PM will be your next opportunity to watch the Youth for Human Rights PSA video at out mission.

Your may want to know why are people applying the principles of Your may want to know why are people interested in and applying the principles of Scientology in the first place.

Here is your answer as taken from the book: What is Scientology?

What does Scientology accomplish?

Scientology stresses the application and workability of its principles and techniques. When properly practiced, Scientology enables one to develop in all aspects of life, both spiritual and temporal. It addresses the individual and brings about greater happiness, self-confidence and ability by increasing a person’s awareness and effectiveness in life. It differs from other religious philosophies in that it supplies the means through which a person can increase his ability to effectively resolve the problems and situations he and others face in life.

A fundamental premise of Scientology is that man is basically good and can improve conditions in his life. However, Scientology cannot promise to do anything by itself. Only the individual can bring about his own improvement by applying the teachings of Scientology to himself and those around him.

Introduction to Scientology Interview

A reminder that tomorrow, 1PM, the Introduction to Scientology video will be shown. If you ever wanted to know about Scientology, this is the video to see.

Also, here is more info regarding Scientology as a Religion.

In what way does Scientology differ from other religions?

Nearly all religions share a belief in helping man live a better life. In Scientology, this concept is expressed as one of the aims of the Church, which is to achieve a world without insanity, war and crime.
While Scientology has much in common with other religions in this regard, particularly in terms of its basic religious concepts and its outreach into the community with social reform programs, the most valuable asset that Scientology has to offer is a wealth of technology which brings about greater spiritual awareness.
Unlike some religions which believe that man is intrinsically evil, Scientology believes man is basically good. The Scientology religion offers practical tools one can use to better oneself and others. Some religions offer salvation in the hereafter, while Scientology offers certainty of eternal salvation now.
Scientology makes it possible for any religion to attain its goals and is therefore a religion of religions

More on The Way to Happiness

Tomorrow, We will show the Public Service Announcements promoting The Way to Happiness. But what it is all about and why do we need one in the first place? You are invited to visit
The Way to Happiness site. Also here is a little taken from the site. The showings start at
7:30 PM.

The Way to Happiness is the first moral code based wholly on common sense. First published in 1981, its purpose is to arrest the current moral decline in society and restore integrity and trust to Man.

Written by L. Ron Hubbard, the booklet fills the moral vacuum of an increasingly materialistic society. This code of conduct contains 21 basic principles that guide one to a better quality of life. Entirely nonreligious, it can be followed by anyone, of any race, color or creed and works to restore the bonds that unite humankind.

But the real power of the booklet is realized when it is distributed to others, hand-to-hand. Since actions of those around you can profoundly affect your life, you are improving your own survival when you present several copies of The Way to Happiness to friends, associates, employees and customers. In this way, you help others better survive and lead happier lives. They, in turn, pass copies of the book to those whose lives they influence, encouraging others to treat their fellows with kindness, compassion and respect.

About the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was created by the United Nations in 1948. The United Nations came into being in 1945, shortly after the end of World War II. Today there are 192 countries that are part of the United Nations.
Eleanor Roosevelt holding a copy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in French
Because the purpose of the United Nations is to bring peace to all nations of the world, a committee of persons headed by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the President of the United States from 1933-1945, wrote a special document which “declares” the right that everyone in the entire world should have – the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
