July is behind us and we look forward to August. Since school is around the corner, we will tell you about some thing that could improve your child's learning ability and education in general. It's great for adults too. We have and deliver many books and courses on study, grammar and how to use a dictionary. All will be talked about this month but don't wait for it to show up here! Stop in the Mission and check out the books.

The Scientology Video Channel has been updated as it will be periodically. Among the new things are 12 new PSA's on drugs. Check out what's else is new and even the other thing that are there.

The Mission of Seattle is hiring and would love to have you work for us. Having a sense of duty and personal conviction are among the highest of human virtues. Coming Together to Fight Drugs

Scientology has many effective Social Betterment programs and among them is the handling of the drug problem. But if you think this is only for Scientology and Scientologists. Think again!

It is for use for anyone who wants to get rid of drugs ans one of the main problems we have in our society. Here are what other people, non-scientologists, say about our programs and the effectiveness of ridding the world of drugs

Praise, Approval and Sympathy

The next point in the Code of Honor is; Never Need Praise, Approval or Sympathy. If you stick to your guns and accomplish things that will enhance survival, you'll get all of the praise and approval you can handle. Just don't demand it!

A word on Sympathy. You might think it's all right to give out sympathy. Person's relative passes away, another person is not doing too well in life. One thing you need to know is that sympathy is low on the emotional tone scale (remember that?) and in most cases does more harm than good. It is far more helpful to do something for the person to lift them up, even a little bit. We have in Scientology many tools you can use to accomplish that. If you can't accomplish that, you can at least make them feel comfortable, but that doesn't include sympathizing with them.

This is tougher than you think but give it a try.

The Mind and KRC

We have been talking about Knowledge, Responsibility and Control over the past couple of days. The Mind, Body, Spirit and life are excellent subjects to know and apply KRC to. After all, they are part of you whether you realize it or not. Scientology is an Applied Religious Philosophy that gives you the tools to have KRC on the above.

There has been an unwritten rule that only certain people should know anything about the mind. This is what L.Ron Hubbard said about the in the book: Dianetics 55.

" WHY SHOULD ANYONE want to know anything about the Human Mind? And for that matter, why should anyone believe the knowledge of the human mind is either unobtainable or undesirable?

Anyone who knows the structure, function and dynamics of the human is very difficult to control. The only way a mind can be controlled is by enforcing upon it ignorance of itself."

Pretty cool huh !

The Other Triangle

If you have ever seen the Scientology Symbol, you will notice there is an S imposed over "two" triangles. The bottom one is the more well known and it is called the Affinity, Reality & Communication (ARC) triangle. The ARC triangle is the key to understanding anything and well worth knowing and applying.

So what is the "other triangle" and what does it stand for? If you read yesterday's blog, at the end is your clue. The other triangle, the top triangle is the KRC triangle and stands for Knowledge, Responsibility and Control. It relates with minimizing your power or strength from the standpoint of to the degree you minimize yourself, the less KRC you have with things in life. As with the ARC triangle, this "other triangle" is worth knowing too.

What is your true strength?

Think of this scenario. You are a kid in school and you're pretty bright. Every time the teacher asks a question and when the rest of the kids don't have an answer, you do. The other kids start making fun of you so not get teased anymore, you "play dumb" and don't answer as many questions.

Or this one: You are a runner and you know all of the runners at a particular are better than you. So you fake an injury and not participate.

There are a million such scenarios like the above and all are doing the same thing,
Making yourself and your abilities smaller than they actually are !

Never disparage yourself or minimize your strength or power is Code of Honor point #4. Unfortunately, the society in a way advocates people or groups who minimizes their strength and power. The main way is by using labels. "At Risk Kids", "Battered Women", "ADD or ADHD", "Minorities" "Disabled" and a host of others serve that purpose. And they are not needed.

The truth is there isn't a person around that couldn't rise up and increase their abilities to some degree. It takes Knowledge, Responsibility and Control. Try it !

What's Happening at the Mission

We are in the middle of our Summer Maiden Voyage events but there are many other things you can participate in every day we're open at the mission.

You can take a free personality test just like the one they have on line. People may have told you what you're live. Here's a chance to find our for yourself. It's free, fun and informative. Also, there are free films you can view and find out more about Scientology, The Way to Happiness, Youth for Human Rights and many other subjects.

On the Dianetics front, there is a 45 minute video you can watch that shows you exactly how Dianetics works and how you can apply it to live a happier life. You can even get set up for a free Introductory Dianetics session.

So call or stop in and find out what we have for you.

Who Deserves Your Support?

This one may sound a little like code #2 but this is aimed more toward groups. We live in an era where it seems like most people join a group or organization with one foot out the door, ready to abandon it at the first word of bad news or rumor about that group. Whether that news or rumor is true or not, you have to look at the whole purpose and work that group does to come to a true decision on them.

Never desert a group to which you owe your support is Code of Honor point #3. What factors could you look at in determining if you should support a group? Here are some points:

1) Are they more constructive to society than destructive, in other words, doing the greatest good for the overall scene?

2) Do they do what they say and deliver what they promise more times than not?

3) Can what that group produces help improve your life and others?

Those are just some. If a group meets the above, it's a safe bet to assume that they are worthy of your support. As part of one group, Scientology, we can never "go on automatic" and think people will support us because of what we do. As for you, the only way you will truly come to an answer for the above is to Look and Observe. Be critical, doubting or skeptical if you want but also be sure to Look !

Does Scientology deserve your support? How about the Red Cross, Microsoft, your local police or even the government ? Look and find out for yourselves.

And here is a rendition of what the new Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center in will look like. It is located on one of the busiest streets in downtown Seattle and in fact, is in the area where L.Ron Hubbard picked the organization for Seattle to be.

Scientology in the Seattle Area

Scientology has a long history in the Seattle area and here is an overview of the Churches and Missions around.

We have 3 Scientology Missions and 1 larger Church (The Org) in the area. The larger church is the Church of Scientology of Washington State. Believe it or not, it is one of the oldest continuing organizations in the world for Scientology (established around 1957). They already have their Ideal Org building funded will be moving in their new quarters soon. They will also have a Life Improvement Center downtown in the near future. Here, you can purchase and do the
Basic Books of Dianetics and Scientology Home Study Course, Life Improvement course and get Scientology Counseling (Auditing). Their main purpose is train people to become Scientology Counselors (Auditor). This is also the hub for all of Scientology's social reform activities in the Seattle area and where you can attend a Scientology Sunday Service. For more information, click on their link or contact them at (206) 284-0604.

The 1st of the Missions is the Mission of Seattle. We have been around since 1980 and at our current location for the last 10 years which is in North Seattle. Our purpose as with all of the other missions around the world is to promote Scientology to the public and sell and deliver basic books and courses to improve and better their life and the lives of others. You can get the
Beginning Books of Dianetics and Scientology here as well as do the Basic Books and Lectures courses. We also have courses on life improvement, studying, handling stress and upsets, communication, marriage and children and improving integrity. There is Scientology Auditing and we give free lectures and introductory services you can take and have films you can watch. You are welcomed to visit. For more information, click on our link or contact us at (206) 365-1884.

The next one is the Eastside Mission , located in Redmond, Washington. They are about 10 miles to the east of Seattle and the 2 well known companies located in their area are Microsoft and Nintendo. They have the same Scientology books, courses and auditing services as the Seattle Mission does. Click on their link for more information of contact them at (425) 558-7600.

The last of the missions is the Bellingham Mission, located in Bellingham, Washington which is 90 miles to the north of Seattle. They are geographically closer to the Vancouver B.C. Org than Seattle. They have and deliver all of the basic books and service except Scientology Counseling. For more information, click on their link or contact them at (360) 715-8803.

So Scientology in the area has endured and withstood the test of time. The public are invited to visit any of our locations to see what it is all about. And for Scientologists, to keep it there in the future, we would love to have people come and help us by volunteering, joining staff which is most important or doing whatever they can. Contact any of the organizations and help us make Scientology happen in the area.

Through Thick and Thin

We all have friends but sometimes you are not sure if they will "have your back" when times get tough. And we may have wavered on our friends or group when they needed us.

That brings is to point #2 of the Code of Honor: Never Withdraw Allegiance Once Granted.
Allegiance is a strong word and the definition is: loyalty owed to one's country, loyalty to or support of a person or cause (Oxford American Dictionary).

Allegiance is not something that can be forced on or by someone. It has to be earned. But once earned, whether it is a person or group, keep your loyalty with them

Independence Day

Happy Independence Day from the Mission of Seattle !

This day is more than BB Q's and fireworks. This is the date that 56 brave men from 13 Colonies took a stand against oppression and unfair treatment. They formed and signed the
Declaration of Independence, announcing their freedom from England. If you have never read this document, take the opportunity to do so by clicking on the link provided which is supplied by www.archeives.gov.

Freedom has to be constantly fought for, not always by war, but by knowing your rights and liberties, given by the laws of that land and by the creator, and ensuring they are maintained.

Keep fighting for true freedom!

Putting Ethics into use

Now that you know what Ethics is (if you don't, read the link in Monday's blog), the next question could be; "How does this apply to me?" Did you know there are exact steps you can follow that will lead you to a better condition in life? And better yet, they are already written out for you.

Click on the link and read the article Conditions: States of Existence. Everyone is in a certain condition, good, bad or in the middle and this could help you up. It may not be an easy to do but if followed, it will lead you to where you always wanted to be in life, and without the baggage. Good luck and we welcome your comments.
